We don't know if mermaids really exist or not, but if they do they're probably just like us in the sense that they'd wear clothes according to a kind of fashion or trend. Imagine that they're the same as us and they dress the same way! Even so, their dresses have to be waterproof, or at least water resistant. Here are a few examples of outfits that come to mind.
